Understanding Different Weights of Carbon Cloth Carbon cloth is available in different weights, typically measured in grams per square meter (gsm) or ounces per square yard (oz/yd²). The weight determines the thickness, strength, and stiffness of the fabric, giving technicians flexibility in choosing the right reinforcement level: Lightweight Carbon Cloth (e.g., 200–250 gsm / 6–7 oz):Thin and flexible, ideal for conforming to complex shapes or as a surface layer for smooth finishes. Commonly used in prosthetic sockets where weight reduction is a priority. Medium Weight Carbon Cloth (e.g., 280–300 gsm / 8–9 oz):Provides a balance between flexibility and strength. Suitable for general reinforcement in sockets, orthoses, and braces. Heavyweight Carbon Cloth (e.g., 370–400 gsm / 11–12 oz):Stiffer and stronger, used where maximum durability and load resistance are needed, such as high-stress prosthetic components or large orthotic devices. By selecting the appropriate weight of Qaadir Carbon Cloth, prosthetists and orthotists can tailor devices to achieve the optimal balance of strength, flexibility, and patient comfort.

  • Prosthetic Laminating Sleeves Multiple Colours Multiple Sizes - Qaadir

Prosthetic Laminating Sleeves Multiple Colours Multiple Sizes

Our Laminating Sleeves offer a 4 way stretch which conforms much more accurately over your cast. Unlike cotton shirt products, our laminated sleeves are wrinkle free and easily stretch. Our laminated sleeves also fit more easily over any shape or size, no matter how big or small the prosthetic. They Offer: 4 Way Stretch Technology Wrinkle Free Easily Stretches Conforms to Mold Fits Over any Shape or Size Time Saver! Large Variety of Styles and Patterns for any Taste Instructions - Perform your usual lay-up of Dacron felt (optional), then nyglass or similar, as usual. Then laminate the socket or device. Before you break out the plaster, rough up the outside with sandpaper. Now for the finishing layer: pull one white nylon sock or nyglass and the sleeve fabric over the mold. Use a laminating sleeve around the mold using adhesive spray. Be sure to work out any wrinkles. Tie off each end. Apply your final PVA bag. Do not use a vacuum hose (nylon) as the final layer, sleeve should be your final layer. For a shiny finish, turn the PVA bag inside out before applying then laminate using a clear resin. Use a minimal amount of promoter (don't set the resin off too fast). Be sure to draw down firmly to remove excess resin with a parachute cord or similar. DO NOT SET RESIN OFF TOO FAST. Slow it down to a 20-30 minute or so lamination. Do not use full suction on vacuum, try half suction.  NOTE: Please know that trying to cut corners by doing a single step lamination may not produce the desired or optimum result.  We will not guarantee our sleeves products to clinics that do not follow our tips for a two step lamination.
