Amparo Motio StepWatch™

Description

The Amparo Motio StepWatch™ is a wearable activity-monitoring device designed specifically to capture the real-world mobility of lower-limb prosthetic users.

Mounted on the patient’s prosthetic ankle, the device is worn for a minimum of 7 days, allowing it to collect objective information about how the patient moves outside the clinic during normal daily life. The system records key mobility metrics including energy consumption, cadence, distance, speed and other activity data, helping clinicians build a more complete picture of the patient’s functional performance.

Key Features

  • Wearable activity monitor for lower-limb prosthetic users
  • Attaches to the prosthetic ankle
  • Designed for a minimum 7-day monitoring period
  • Captures real-world mobility outside the clinic
  • Measures:
    • Energy consumption
    • Cadence
    • Walking distance
    • Speed
    • Activity patterns and performance
  • Supports objective assessment of prosthetic use
  • Helps clinicians evaluate functional activity level
  • Data feeds directly into the Motio Functional Report
  • Suitable for prosthetic clinics, rehabilitation teams, insurers and research programmes
  • HIPAA-compliant system

Real-World Functional Assessment

Traditional prosthetic assessments provide only a snapshot of performance during a clinic appointment. The Motio StepWatch extends assessment into the patient’s everyday environment, allowing the rehabilitation team to see how the prosthesis is actually being used at home, at work and in the community.

After the monitoring period, the device is retrieved and its data is analysed through the Motio platform to support a more objective assessment of the patient's mobility and functional potential.

Clinical Applications

The Motio StepWatch can support:

  • Functional-level assessment
  • K-level evaluation
  • Prosthetic component selection
  • Monitoring rehabilitation progress
  • Pre- and post-intervention comparison
  • Documentation for reimbursement
  • Clinical research and outcome measurement
  • Long-term patient follow-up

The Amparo Motio StepWatch brings objective, real-world mobility data into prosthetic care, helping clinicians move beyond subjective assessment and make more informed decisions based on how patients actually function in everyday life.
